Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) requires all students conducting off-campus human subject research or other scholarly activity to register these activities by completing an online registration form. Many of these scholarly activities involve the collection of human data and include many different types of projects: human subject research, program evaluation, quality improvement, case reports, literature searches and needs assessments.
Regardless of the type of project, all NEOMED students must have a faculty mentor to provide guidance and direction when conducting the project. This includes activities undertaken by NEOMED students while completing rotations at affiliated hospitals, clinics, or pharmacies. It is the faculty member’s and student’s responsibility to register these activities conducted by NEOMED students. Most importantly, students and faculty mentors must ensure the hosting institution’s requirements for each activity are met before engaging in the activity.
Scholarly activities involving NEOMED students at off-campus locations (teaching hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, etc. ) can be registered with the NEOMED IRB by completing our Student Scholarly Activity Registration Form.
