Clinical experience is essential to your success in dental school. At NEOMED, you’ll build a strong foundation through on-campus clinical training, then expand your skills at community-based sites. These off-campus placements give you the chance to work with diverse patients, including those in rural and underserved communities, while gaining insight into different cultures and perspectives on dental care.

Northeast Ohio Medical University, or NEOMED, is a thriving health professions university located in one of the nation’s foremost regions for health care and research. As one of Ohio’s 14 state universities, we serve the region and beyond as northeast Ohio’s state university academic health center.
NEOMED’s four colleges—in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and graduate studies—offer the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) and Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degrees, along with master’s and doctoral programs and research opportunities in medical and life sciences.

| February 2023 | Bitonte College of Dentistry submitted to the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) the CODA Application for Initial Accreditation. |
| July 2023 | Formal approval by the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) was granted to offer the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree program. |
| December 2023 | NEOMED hosted an onsite “Change Visit” by its institutional accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), for approval to offer the DDS degree program. |
| April 4-5, 2024 | CODA conducted a site visit on the Rootstown campus as part of the process for Initial Accreditation. |
| May 2024 | Higher Learning Commission (HLC) approval to offer the DDS degree program received by NEOMED. |
| August 2024 | CODA approved initial accreditation for our college. |
