To qualify for federal and university funding, students must meet the qualifications and submit the corresponding paperwork based on the aid they are seeking.
Submitted application materials will be reviewed in a process called Verification/File Review prior to a financial aid offer being issued. Financial aid offers will be issued to students in May.
Financial Aid applicants should:
- Be accepted into a degree-seeking, fully accredited and Title IV eligible program at NEOMED.
- Have received a bachelor’s degree or have completed 72 credit hours or greater to qualify for federal student aid at the graduate/professional student level.
- Review the Financial Aid Eligibility, Application and File Verification Policy to understand how to qualify for the different aid sources and deadline for applications.
- Have uploaded their Social Security number in Student Self-Service (opens in a new tab).
How to apply for financial aid at NEOMED in three steps:
Step 1
Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Use (or create) your StudentAid.gov account before completing the FAFSA. On StudentAid.gov: Create Account.
A FAFSA must be completed annually. The FAFSA is generally available beginning October 1st for the upcoming academic year at FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid.
The Federal School Code for NEOMED is G24544.
Are you a newly admitted student?
Newly admitted students may complete Step 1 at any time. To complete Steps 2 and 3 below, you must first receive login credentials from Admissions that will give you access to our Student Self-Service website. These credentials are sent shortly after your Offer of Admission is accepted and processed.
Step 2
Provide your Social Security Number
To complete Step 2, log in to Student Self-Service (opens in a new tab), then go to the Student section.
Complete this step once after your initial admission to the University. Your Social Security Number is required for the Office of Financial Aid to import your FAFSA and for the University Bursar to issue your annual IRS Form 1098-T. For security purposes, SSNs already on file will not be accessible through Student Self-Service.
Step 3
Answer supplemental questions
To complete Step 3, log in to Student Self-Service (opens in a new tab) > Financial Aid.
Here is guidance for some of the questions:
The preferred method of communicating financial information to students is through electronic means. Financial information disclosed through email or Student Self-Service includes, but is not limited to financial aid offers, student authorizations, missing application notices, direct loan notifications, and consumer information. Information sent by text may include reminders to apply for financial aid and scholarships.
We encourage students to consent to use electronic communications. If we do not receive consent, then all communication regarding financial information will be sent via USPS standard mail to the local address on file. In the event a local address is not provided, we will use a permanent address. Students are responsible for updating their address and mobile phone numbers in Student Self-Service.
Federal regulations allow schools to use federal financial aid to pay for tuition and mandatory fees related to degree programs. However, students must authorize the use of federal student aid to pay for other charges such as medical insurance, printing charges, parking and overdue library fines, etc. This authorization excludes charges associated with certificate coursework. Once authorization is given, students may contact the Office of Financial Aid at finaid@380cebbe0d.nxcli.io to review, change or rescind the authorization.
In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) we protect the privacy of student education records by requiring prior written consent before disclosing specific details about financial aid and tuition statements to anyone other than the student. Students may complete the FERPA Release to specify the individual(s) with whom we may share protected information. We will not release information regarding your financial aid or student tuition account with anyone unless we have authorization to do so.
Students will need to confirm their identity prior to in depth counseling, either by showing their NEOMED or government issued photo ID, or by confirming personally identifiable information if counseling occurs over the phone. Family members disclosed on the FERPA release will need to confirm demographic information of the student prior to the disclosure of FERPA protected data.
File review and verification
Financial aid applications are reviewed in accordance with the Financial Aid Eligibility, Application and File Verification Policy.
The following are examples of items that may be reviewed during the file review process:
- Identity.
- Degree seeking and academic level.
- High School completion status.
- Other items, including but not limited to the verification of additional and/or conflicting information.
Students will be informed of required documents needed via NEOMED email. We do not recommend proactively submitting documentation. Often, there is specific guidance on how documentation is received and reviewed.
🔒 How to submit financial aid documents securely
When submitting confidential information to the University, use one of the following secure methods:
- Hand deliver it to the office during regular business hours (M-F from 8-5)
- U.S. Postal Mail to: NEOMED, Office of Financial Aid, 4209 SR 44, PO Box 95, Rootstown, OH 44272
- Securely upload a file through Student Self-Service (opens in a new tab). Click All Users, click Secure Document Upload, select Document Type, choose File, then press Upload File. TIP: Document Types beginning with FA will be sent to financial aid. A green box will appear in the upper right corner to let you know that your document has been submitted successfully.
