We offer in-person or telecounseling sessions for all enrolled students. Our counselors are trained to understand the unique experiences of people from all backgrounds, and they are committed to providing culturally sensitive care.

Hours:

  • Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m,
  • Friday, 8 a.m.  – 4 p.m.

Location: We are near the Wasson Center on the second floor of the NEW Center. We are part of NEOMED Health Care. When you walk in, go past the desk that says NEOMED Health Care and turn right. Counseling services are provided by TRAVCO Behavioral Health.

After-hours urgent crisis?

NEOMED has an arrangement with Impact Solutions for counseling services after hours. Call NEOMED’s counseling number at 330-325-6757; it will automatically forward to Impact Solutions, where someone will assist you, regardless of the time. How to help a student

NEOMED’s Care Team is a campus-wide network of resources that focuses on prevention, early intervention and provision of support services for individuals in our community who are experiencing distress or engaging in harmful or disruptive behaviors. Let us know about someone’s behavior that concerns you.

The Meditation Room

The Meditation Room is designed to promote wellness and offers options to assist in reducing stress and restoring balance. The room features a light therapy box, relaxation CDs, a Shiatsu heated massage chair and more. Location: L-238. (No reservation necessary.)

Brittany Calderone

Brittany Calderone

Biography

Brittany earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a certified Autism Spectrum Clinical Specialist. She is also certified in Trauma focused CBT (TF-CBT). Her clinical experience varies from providing counseling services in multiple school settings while working with individuals’ grades K-12 and in an early college school. Her clinical experience also ranges from providing substance abuse inpatient/outpatient treatment, residential/group home treatment, and outpatient counseling for individuals and families.  Brittany uses an eclectic, person-centered approach to therapy. For leisure, Brittany enjoys family time, traveling to different countries/learning and experiencing other cultures, spending time in national parks and boating.

Katrina Mayer

Katerina Mayer

Biography

Katerina earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from The University of California, Merced, and a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of Akron.

Katerina has experience working with a variety of clients including young adults, individuals, couples and families. She specializes in relationships and system and their connection to create identity and perspective on your unique situation. Her treatment expertises include anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges and trauma informed care.

Katerina uses a systematic approach to therapy. This approach acknowledges the differences in interpretation of the world we grew up and the relationships that shape us. She is dedicated to create a supportive, collaborative, therapeutic space where authenticity and growth thrive. The therapeutic approaches she uses in treatment include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, narrative therapy and contextual family therapy.

Katerina’s partner went to medical school and is currently in residency, so Katerina understands the new challenges, networking and feelings of lack of control that can come with being a medical student. She also has insight in how these changes can affect social, familial and romantic relationships. We all have different backgrounds and challenges that we face in life.

Katerina is dedicated to making a personally tailored, collaborative and supportive therapeutic environment to develop a better version of yourself and achieve personal goals.
