Trustee biographies

The Northeast Ohio Medical University Board of Trustees serves as the University’s governing body, guiding its mission to improve health through education, research and service. Appointed by the governor of Ohio, board members bring diverse expertise from healthcare, business, education and public service. Together, they provide strategic direction, ensure fiscal responsibility and uphold the University’s commitment to advancing health and science across the state.

Biographies

Photo of Darrell L. McNairDarrell L. McNair, M.B.A., Chair

Mr. McNair is President and CEO of The MVP Group, which includes MVP Plastics, a custom injection molder serving the automotive, medical and recreational markets, and All Foam Products, a custom foam fabricator and distributor serving military and commercial clients. He previously held marketing and finance roles at IBM and Ford and has led entrepreneurial ventures in medical supply, home healthcare, construction and retail.

McNair serves on numerous boards and community organizations, including the Cleveland Federal Reserve, Destination Cleveland, Mt Sinai Foundation, Cleveland Cuyahoga County Port Authority, and Medical Mutual of Ohio. Mr. McNair earned a Master of Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University.

Mr. Considine is Chief Executive Officer Emeritus of Akron Children’s Hospital, where he served with distinction as president and CEO for 40 years. He dedicated his career to advancing pediatric care and improving the quality of life for children and families. One of the longest-tenured hospital chief executives in the country, he is an internationally recognized advocate for children’s health and well-being and a trusted resource for policymakers in Columbus and Washington, D.C.

Ms. Doseck is the Assistant Treasurer/Assistant Secretary of Crown Equipment Corporation, a leader in the material handling industry. She has extensive experience in financial reporting, planning, and management. Ms. Doseck is also the Executive Director of the New Bremen Foundation and holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Wright State University.

Ms. Gartland is Chief Government and Community Relations Officer at University Hospitals. She leads UH’s strategy for community relations, community benefit, community health strategic investments, corporate reinvestment, strategic economic-development projects, government and regulatory affairs, and diversity and inclusion commitments. She advocates for University Hospitals at the federal, state and local level, and is a decorated government relations leader. Gartland completed her undergraduate degree at Ohio’s College of Wooster. She earned a Master of Health Administration at The Ohio State University and a Certificate in Diversity Management from Georgetown University.

William H. Considine, M.H.S.A.Karen Soehnlen McQueen, J.D.

Ms. McQueen is a director of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A. with a practice that focuses on mediation. Prior to engaging in mediation, she practiced litigation for more than 35 years, focusing on all aspects of employment-related litigation, as well as litigation relating to business, commercial, professional, nonprofit and director liability matters. McQueen has been an advocate for employers in State and Federal Courts, as well as the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.

For more than 40 years, Mr. Roth was part of the Aultman team dedicated to providing Stark and surrounding counties excellence and affordability in healthcare. From 2001 – 2021, he served as President and CEO of Aultman Health Foundation and Aultman Hospital, an independent regional not-for-profit healthcare system in Canton, Ohio.

He serves as past chairman of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Board and chairman of Canton Central Catholic High School Board. He also serves on the boards of the Ohio Hospital Association Institute for Health Improvement, Whispering Grace Horses and Divine Mercy Parish. He has served on the boards of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Stark Development Board, Junior Achievement and Walsh University.

Ward J. “Tim” Timken Jr., M.B.A.Ward J. “Tim” Timken Jr., M.B.A.

Ward J. “Tim” Timken, Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer of McKinley Strategies. In his role, he is the managing partner of the general business-consulting portion of the firm and oversees and works across other functions of the business such as government affairs, political and grassroots. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. After his time at the Darden School, Mr. Timken opened and managed a Washington D.C. lobbying firm for Ohio-based lobbying firm McGough and Associates.

Phillip L. TruebloodPhillip L. Trueblood

Mr. Trueblood has over 50 years’ experience serving as an investment advisor and branch manager for several firms. He has extensive experience assisting individuals, corporations and nonprofit organizations reach their long-term financial goals. In addition, he has developed and managed long-term investment plans and is recognized as a leader in these areas.

Susan Tave Zelman, Ph.D.Susan Tave Zelman, Ph.D.

Dr. Zelman is the president of Zelman Education Consulting. She retired as the Executive Director, Superintendency at the Ohio Department of Education in 2018. She also served as senior vice president for education and children’s programming at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, where she developed policies and programs to integrate public service medial into a national reform education agenda. Gannett Newspaper named Dr. Zelman as one of the most powerful and influential women in Ohio state government. Dr. Zelman obtained her Ph.D. in education from the University of Michigan.

Trinity A. KronkTrinity A. Kronk

Trinity Kronk is a dedicated medical student pursuing a combined M.D./Ph.D. degree at Northeast Ohio Medical University. Trinity is deeply committed to leadership, service, and academic excellence, actively shaping student life at NEOMED. With a strong foundation from her undergraduate degree at Emory University, Trinity has cultivated a passion for research and leadership, exemplified by her roles as Founder of the Journal of Medical Sciences at NEOMED, Founder and Co-President of the Dual Degree Society, past Co-President of NEOvations Bench to Bedside and current member of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society Mentoring and Professional Development Committee. Trinity has published numerous papers and presented several abstracts focusing on skeletal and bone diseases, contributing significantly to the field through her research and academic presentations. Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Trinity is committed to community service, and mentoring. She has volunteered as an assistant instructor at GiGi’s Playhouse, helping children and adults with Down syndrome engage in fitness and wellness activities. Trinity is actively involved in medical innovation. Trinity has led multiple I-Corps teams to develop orthopaedic medical technologies and is a co-inventor of a provisional patent for a minimally invasive orthopaedic device. She is also an avid yoga practitioner, hiker and dancer, embracing wellness and creativity in her daily life. Trinity’s leadership and service experiences reflect her dedication to both her academic community and the broader society, constantly striving to make a positive impact wherever she is.

Guido SheroGuido S. Shero, J.D.

Mr. Shero is a medical student at Northeast Ohio Medical University. He recently retired as an officer from the United States Marine Corps, where he primarily served as an F/A-18 pilot. During his military career, he held several leadership roles, including Legal Officer, Ground Safety Officer, Information Systems Security Officer, and Mission Planning Cell Officer. In 2021, he deployed to the Middle East with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 224 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

In addition to his military service, Mr. Shero advocates for veterans as an attorney accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is also active in his local community, having recently served as treasurer of the Medina Township Police Levy Committee, where he was instrumental in securing sustained funding for the Medina Township Police Department. Mr. Shero is further committed to youth mentorship, coaching a local soccer team through i9 Sports.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and a Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He and his wife, Mallory, have five children together.

Robert J. KlonkRobert J. Klonk

Robert J. Klonk is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Unison Risk Advisors and Oswald Companies, one of the nation’s largest privately held and employee‐owned, insurance brokerage and risk management consulting firms. A leader in the insurance field for more than 40 years, Klonk led the 2020 creation of Unison Risk Advisors, formed by the merger of Oswald and RCM&D, a Baltimore, Maryland‐based risk and insurance firm. With an entrepreneurial approach, Unison is poised for expansive growth.

Klonk previously served as Chairman of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) and currently holds a position on the Executive Committee of the Board. He previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Assurex Global, an exclusive partnership of the most prominent privately held brokers in the world. He has served both organizations in membership and leadership capacities for more than 20 years. He has previously served as Chairman of The Council of Employee Benefits Executives in Washington D.C., and Council PAC, a Political Action Committee that serves the broker community and employers.

Portrait of Paul R. Bishop, J.D.Paul R. Bishop, J.D.

Mr. Bishop is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of H-P Products, Inc., a manufacturer of central vacuum systems and fabricated tubing and fittings for many industries. He has a degree from The Ohio State University and a law degree from The University of Akron. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army, as international president of YPO and as a past board member of both CEO and WPO. He is currently a Trustee Emeritus of the Northeast Ohio Medical University, and is a lifetime trustee of University of Mount Union. He is married to his artist wife, Jane, and they are parents of two daughters and grandparents of five grandsons and one granddaughter.
