Mission
The NEOMED Free Clinic’s mission is to build and sustain healthy communities in Northeast Ohio, centered in Portage County by utilizing the medical knowledge and cultural competency of NEOMED medical and pharmacy students. Our vision is that all Northeast Ohio residents will have access to quality health care through our clinic and community classes.
What We Do
The NEOMED Free Clinic provides high quality, non-emergent, no-cost healthcare to the medically underserved residents of Northeast Ohio. We offer primary care services, chronic disease management, regular routine care, basic labs, medication prescriptions, and therapy management.
Who We Are
The NEOMED Free Clinic was started by medical and pharmacy students in 2016. Currently, it is run by current students attending NEOMED with overall advising from the board.

Clinic history
Student volunteers have been the foundation of the NEOMED Free Clinic since 2012 when OutReach, a student organization, was established.
Student leaders in the group lead the collaboration and planning efforts that included engaging an interprofessional team of students, establishing faculty champions, assessing community needs and formalizing the NEOMED Free Clinic concept.
A business plan ― complete with funding and legal requirements, operational needs, a volunteer recruitment plan and a timeline ― was prepared.
In 2016, the then-called SOAR (Student Outreach to the Area Residents) Student-Run Free Clinic held its grand opening.
Operating as a university clinical initiative, the free clinic was renamed the Student-Run Free Clinic at NEOMED in January 2021. It was renamed the NEOMED Free Clinic in 2024.
