Pharmaceutical Sciences
Advancing research in chronic diseases, drug discovery and development
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is dedicated to interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic diseases, identifying novel therapeutic targets, and advancing drug discovery and development. Faculty expertise spans a range of areas, including alcoholic liver disease, cancer, metabolic disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury and vision-related neurodegeneration.
Driven by a commitment to educational excellence and groundbreaking research, we seek to address pressing health care challenges while enriching the knowledge and skills of students and scholars through classroom instruction, laboratory experiences and innovative discoveries.
The department is also home to the Neurodegenerative Disease and Aging Research Focus Area, where faculty collaborate with colleagues from the College of Medicine, the College of Graduate Studies, NEOMED-partner universities and other national and international institutions.
